Anatomy.tv, the Primal Pictures 3D anatomy model, was built from CT scans of a full human skeleton. Structures such as muscles, vessels, nerves and organs were constructed using their own MRI data and cross-sectional cadaver images. All of the content within this program has been verified by qualified anatomists and by a team of external experts for each body area.

I am quite pleased to comment on the STAT!Ref and Anatomy.tv [Primal Pictures] products. We have a diploma school of nursing as part of our health system. These two products are used heavily by our students. Also, staff nurses and others are using these products. There have been no problems here with access or down time. In the first month, the STAT!Ref book on fluids and electrolytes had 78 hits. This was before some orientations were even complete. I certainly hope to add to our STAT!Ref products for our next budget year.
Anatomy.tv offers a wide array of anatomical images, a growing library of pathological anatomical images, and excellent videos on many topic areas. I utilize Anatomy.tv regularly for our continuing education courses on PhysicalTherapy.com. I work with our presenters and other colleagues at continued.com identifying the appropriate images for their presentations which in turn assists our learners to understand and apply the content taught by our expert presenters in their respective fields.
There is a digital healthcare revolution underway that is fundamentally changing the way medical information is shared, presented and used by physicians, educators and students. At the heart of this revolution is Anatomy.tv, the World’s First Complete 3D Model of Human Anatomy.
My suggestion is if you want to present your clinic or services as being progressive and professional then this is the product for you. This is truly an exceptional new program and is highly recommended as both a reference and an educational resource for anyone dealing with human anatomy.
The 3D real-time viewer I was pleased to use is AMAZING!! It's so easy to use and so beautiful. My colleagues were completely surprised by the astonishing quality and simplicity in which it is to use. As a radiologist we use images all day, every day. Your images are THE images to use in presentations or just for anatomic correlation during evaluation of scans.
I took a look, I saw Primal’s Embed feature, and I was like, sold! I like how quick and easy it is to enrich my course materials using the same trusted content I've always used on Anatomy.tv. I just saw that it said, Embed, and then you can go choose Canvas. And as the embedded content retains its original dynamic functionality, my students can rotate, layer, highlight and use the labelling for interactive images or simply play, pause, and replay the videos. One of the big things is that they just really enjoy the amount of material that they have to study with. And for everything that we’re able to give to these students, it has definitely improved their performance.
The ability to import images, the ability to have some true human dissection, the radiological images, and the ability to look at things from multiple perspectives have been really important for our program. Overall, Primal has certainly met my expectations and goals in teaching.
Why I like Primal is because of the accuracy of the structures. Then, you can integrate it into your LMS by using the different embedding features. We wanted a software where students don’t have to look at another book or anything for accuracy sake. So, we went for Primal.
I used Primal software initially as a virtual lab for students. That was my initial goal with Primal, and I definitely think that we’ve accomplished that. Every week they have a list of structures they have to find, examine from different angles and get to understand the relationships between the structures. Next, we discuss, and later I give them online quizzes using images from the Primal software. Student engagement has been excellent... My students tell me that they’re now using Primal to supplement some of their other courses as well and they’re enjoying it.
We are constantly looking for additional information which would help our students. Not everybody learns the same way, so there would be additional ancillary help outside the classroom the student could access himself or herself that would be sort of a programmed learning experience for them.
Before I began using Primal, I had to select pages from books to use for slides in my presentations. So having the software and being able to illustrate my teaching points in 3D on a PowerPoint presentation makes a massive difference. It's also a fantastic resource for producing test questions for use in class. Using Primal gives a better idea of the origins and insertions of muscles – it's like taking a walk through the body – and facilitates a much deeper understanding of what is happening. I find that there is a quicker and more thorough uptake of the subject by teaching with the aid of the 3D images – especially since I can choose specific angles and layers for my presentations in order to illustrate the points I am making.
The Head and Neck software demonstrates structures and movements that were previously difficult to visualize with beautifully designed interactive graphics which has definitely taken anatomical education and presentation to the next level.
Anatomy.tv is a great tool for our dental hygiene students to study head and neck anatomy. It is especially useful for our online students who don't have the benefit of visual learning in the onsite classroom setting. Head and neck anatomy – bones, muscles, nerves, arteries, etc are tough to visualize and this tool definitely aids the visual learner. I like the layering capability to allow students to study and review selected areas and then 'put it all together' for an overall impression. Another good piece of teaching technology to place in our toolkit. Thanks!
You will not find a comparable degree of versatility, depth, richness of content or pure good looks.
We've had Anatomy.tv for a while now and every time I use it I am amazed by how detailed it is. One of my favorite features is the ability in the MRI area to click on a structure and have it highlighted on the actual MRI. I also love the videos, especially the shoulder rotation one.
Really exciting - haven't had this kind of interactive fun since playing "Operation" as a kid. I could see this as useful aid in student presentations, called my co-workers in to try it out as well and everyone including sonographer, mammo tech, OB/GYN, and LPN studying to become RN loved it.
